You dont have to say anything. Whatever you are feeling. We get lots of letters over here and they mostly just thank us. You could be different and write something funny, i think we would appreciate that more.

Ask a few questions about what he or she does in the Marines.
Avoid asking how they are doing, it leaves the door open to way too much sarcasm if they respond
