He was opposed to the war as a Senate CANDIDATE. He was not even in the Senate yet to be present for that vote. He voted against the withdrawl of troops and for more funding for the troops. He did not voice his desire for the withdrawl of troops until he was in the process of running for president, when he realized thats what the people wanted and what polls showed people favored.
