Sunday, July 11th, 2010
journeymanpictures asked:

Aug 2004 What happens when those who’ve grown up on Hollywood war movies and graphic video games are sent to the frontline? “It’s the ultimate rush — you’re going into the fight with a good song playing in the background,” states one soldier. This is a war fought by the first playstation generation. As Rolling Stones journalist Evan Wright explains: “One thing about them is they kill very well in Iraq.” Produced by ABC Australia Distributed by Journeyman Pictures

Become a fan on Facebook and be the first to get new music! www.facebook.com Iraqi-American rapper TIMZ has released a politically charged music video that is getting international attention since its debut on YouTube.com. Winner of the 2007 Hollywood Film Festival Music Video of the Year Winner of MTVu’s “The Freshman” in 2007 Winner of TheBeat.fm Summer Contest “Iraq” is destined to be a true rallying cry during these difficult political times. TIMZ’s background allows him to give a unique perspective of the war. “My parents are from Iraq but I was born in the United States. I feel like I’m able to connect to both sides of this war a little more than the average person. That’s why I wrote the song the way I did; the first verse is written from the perspective of an Iraqi while the second verse is written from the perspective of an American. The third verse is a history lesson!” “Dear Mr. George Bush,” TIMZ raps. “Why do you insist to make a fool of us? For over 200 years… we stood for what’s good, now we despised by our peers; And what do you…but add fuel to the fire and send in more troops. Oh the troops God save the troops; it wasn’t their war their lies their fault. America the beautiful what did they do to you, they used you its so indisputable!” On his fiery and autobiographical debut CD, TIMZ—aka Tommy Hanna, an American born rapper of Chaldean and Iraqi descent–gets right up in our faces, mixing explosive, Middle Eastern tinged beats with incendiary rhymes

Why did the propaganda of the Bush administration work to get us into Iraq?

Genuine Female Behind My Avatar asked:

Iraq was not behind what happened on 9/11. Even Bush admitted this “error” of intelligence on the way out. The passports of those terrorists who highjacked the planes were Saudi Arabian passports. Intelligent people in the USA knew this, and told the truth: that the US went into Iraq for oil. Why did the average person believe that Iraq was behind 9/11 and therefore why are we still in Iraq?

Lifting the Hood - Iraq

Friday, July 2nd, 2010
journeymanpictures asked:

November 2005 As the ‘hooded man’ in the infamous Abu Ghraib pictures, Haj Ali became an icon of everything that was wrong with the US occupation. He tells his story and we hear from other prisoners “They stretched my hands in this position and attached the wires to them”, states Haj Ali. “It felt like my eyes were popping out. I couldn’t stand it.” He spent three months being physically and psychologically tortured at Abu Ghraib. Interrogators wanted him to use his knowledge as a community leader to inform on other people. “They said ‘give us the name of anyone you hate and we’ll see it as co-operation and help you.’” In a nearby cell, army general Abu Maan was also being interrogated. “They stripped me and took photos of me in degrading positions”, he recalls. Both men are angry that only junior officers have been disciplined for the abuse that went on at Abu Ghraib. Ilham al-Jumaili’s husband Munadel was tortured to death there. It’s his corpse that Sabrina Harman was photographed gloating over. “We didn’t expect America to take Munadel and never return him”, she laments. The victims of Abu Ghraib remain haunted by their experiences. In the words of Haj Ali “Only one thing has changed. The cameras have now disappeared The abuse still continues.” Produced by SBS/Dateline Distributed by Journeyman Pictures
